Clean Air Night brought forward to highlight health harms of wood burning in autumn

(29/07/26)

We are pleased to announce that the next Clean Air Night will take place on 17th November 2026, providing an opportunity for health experts, communities and campaigners to come together and discuss the health harms of wood burning pollution earlier in the burning season.

Wood burning produces fine particulate matter air pollution (PM2.5), when enters your bloodstream when inhaled and can cause heart and lung disease, as well as increasing your risk of diabetes and dementia.

Clean Air Night was founded by Global Action Plan in 2024 to increase public awareness of the health, environmental and financial costs of wood burning. Now in its third year, the campaign has successfully increased public awareness of the issue with around a third of the UK public having heard of the campaign, and two thirds of Londoners.

92% of people in the UK who are aware of Clean Air Night support the introduction of at least one measure to tackle air pollution from wood burning in their local area.

Clean Air Night is an important opportunity for us to come together and shine a light on the harms of wood burning. Based on your feedback, we are pleased to announce that we are moving the next Clean Air Night forward. We hope this will help amplify conversations about the health harms of indoor air pollution at the start of the burning season and keep them going throughout.
