Clean Air

Everyone deserves to breathe clean air — at home, at school, and in their local neighbourhood.

Latest news: New research shows that stopping non-essential wood burning could save NHS over £54 million annually. See more.

Air Pollution is one of the most serious and unequal health crises we face in the UK.
Polluted air harms people at every stage of life, from damaging lung and brain development before birth to driving heart disease, strokes, diabetes and early death in adulthood.

Clean air should be a right, not a privilege.
Through powerful public campaigns, trusted partnerships and evidence-led advocacy, we are turning growing awareness into action that creates lasting change for communities across the UK.

Clean Air Day: The UK's largest public air pollution campaign, engaging businesses, schools, hospitals, health professionals, local authorities and devolved governments to take action on air pollution.

We are leading the campaign against wood-burning in urban areas.

The change we want to see

We all deserve to live in healthy, connected, low carbon communities, where we can breathe clean air at home and in our local neighbourhoods.

To achieve this, we need our decision makers to end the burning of fossil and forest fuels – including oil, gas, and wood – in urban areas by 2035, ensuring everyone can fairly access cleaner, greener alternatives.

This year, we are focused on making sure that the UK Government commits to ambitious action to cut fine particle air pollution from domestic burning – one of the biggest and most unequal sources of polluted air in urban areas.

We also want to continue to work with communities impacted by air pollution to amplify their experiences of air pollution and the changes they want to see with newly elected officials following the May local elections.

If you’d like to be a part of this change, we want to hear from you. Get in touch to explore how we can work together to ensure everyone has access to clean air.

Before I became a part of the Clean Air New Voices group, I was feeling quite powerless and hopeless in terms of combatting air pollution in my area. The project sent me on a voyage of discovery ….. and I started to feel really hopeful.
