Dr Malcolm White
Programme Manager - Clean Air Specialist
Working to tackle air pollution both locally and at scale, to improve our wider public health and to influence policies that benefit us all.
Dr Malcolm White joined Global Action Plan in 2021 from a background in hospital medicine and environmental activism. He quickly jumped into healthcare education projects, delivering excellent teaching to healthcare professionals across primary and secondary care, and developing supporting materials to complement these projects. The teaching significantly improved clinician knowledge, understanding and confidence with regards air pollution. Over 300 healthcare ‘Clean Air Champions’ have been trained to date, spreading their learning to patients and colleagues. Our resources have proved very popular and have been adopted by organisations such as the Royal College of Physicians, Royal College of Paediatricians and Royal College of General Practice.
Malcolm is also working on encouraging greater actions from the NHS on air pollution at the Integrated Care Systems (ICS) level using Global Action Plan's ICS Clean Air Framework. This tool allows these health institutions to understand their baseline and develop action plans to help them deliver air pollution action on a regional basis that helps tackle health inequalities at scale.

Campaigning for clean air combines my passions for improving public health with my passion for tackling climate change. Working for Global Action Plan has been the natural place to bring them together in one job.
