The UK’s largest campaign on air pollution - today launches this year’s resources ahead of the 16 June campaign. The 2022 resources enable individuals, schools, businesses, health organisations, community groups and local authorities to demonstrate support for action on air pollution. The resources include “how to” guides for organising Clean Air Day events or play streets, posters and leaflets to use at your workplace or organisation, template letters to send to your local councillors to ask for changes in your community, and many more.
The resources support actions in line with this year’s Clean Air Day theme: “Air pollution dirties every organ in your body. Take steps to improve your health and the planet this Clean Air Day.”
Specifically, Global Action Plan is encouraging people to:
- Talk to someone about the harms of air pollution.
- Walk those short distance trips and leave the car at home, where you can.
- Ask local and national decision makers for a change in your local community that would make it easier for you to walk more, leave the car at home and breathe clean air.
In line with these asks, new resources include a walking for clean air toolkit comprised of a Clean Air Day walking playlist, tips and additional resources to help you get walking and new social media graphics.
Larissa Lockwood, Director of Clean Air at Global Action Plan, says: “We are thrilled to be launching this year’s resources which help highlight how air pollution can impact every organ in everybody – not just those who are vulnerable. Even though we can’t see it, air pollution impacts our health from our first breath to our last.
However, it is solvable, and we can all do something to cut pollution. By using our free resources individuals, communities, schools, the health sector, and businesses can all do something to cut pollution to benefit our health and planet.”
