Newsletter: Today is Earth Overshoot Day
(29/07/19)

It's Earth Overshoot Day, which means that by today we have already used up nature's resource budget for the entire year. Follow the hashtag #movethedate today to find out more. At Global Action Plan, we're working all year round to connect what's good for us and good for the planet. Read about some of our recent highlights.

Move over Attenborough! Introducing H2O Heroes...

Telferscot Primary School in Balham, South London were the winners of our celebration event for H2O Heroes - a water-saving programme that we've delivered in partnership with Thames Water since 2014. H2O Heroes supports students to design their own behaviour change campaigns to get their communities saving water.

Students are then invited to a celebration event at City Hall to present their campaigns. The judging panel, made up of representatives from Thames Water, Global Action Plan, STEM and the Greater London Authority crowned Telferscot Primary School the winners. Their prize was the chance to make a film, and they've come up with this Attenborough-inspired tour de force- watch and see if you can spot some of Planet Earth III's newest wildlife!

Global Action Plan has moved!

It looks like we chose one of the hottest ever weeks for our move, but Global Action Plan now has a new home! We've hopped over the Thames to a fab new pad opposite Borough tube. If you're passing, then pop in for a sustainably-sourced coffee and a marvel at the latest in creative co-working spaces, we'd love to see you.

Accelerating the transition to electric vehicles

A driver in a 100% electric van

Join our growing list of signatories to the Clean Van Commitment (including Tesco, Siemens and Network Rail) who've pledged to switch to zero emission vans by 2028. Fleet numbers from the 37 signatories to date already represent 1% of the UK's entire van fleet pledging to make the transition.

Joining the Clean Van Commitment is simple – and it’s free. We’ll ask for your name, organisation name, contact details and the number of vans you operate. That’s it. We have everything you need to tell your organisation about it, including a summary document and a pitch to management so it's as easy as possible to get involved. We look forward to hearing from you!
