Flickers of the Future competition launches with support of patron, Richard Curtis CBE

We're thrilled to announce the launch of a competition challenging young creatives to craft a human story of a sustainable future. Richard Curtis CBE is our patron and a host of incredible film experts, environmentalists and futurists have collaborated with us on creating this exciting opportunity.
The way we depict the future matters - research shows that the portrayal of bleak future dystopias creates fear, denial and passivity. We need content that uses humour, aspirational and feel-good storylines to inspire us all to strive for a very different future.
Richard Curtis CBE urges filmmakers to put their "best creative energy to saving our weird, worrying but still wonderful world."
Please share this opportunity with any young filmmakers (under the age of 29) you know - the winning story will be supported through production with £100k funding. The competition closes at midnight on 31st December 2019.
The Business Clean Air Taskforce - a coalition to clean up air pollution

Global Action Plan has collaborated with eight major businesses (Philips, Uber, Engie, Octopus Electric Vehicles, Blueair, Ricardo, Canary Wharf Group and BP Chargemaster) and Defra to launch the UK's first business coalition dedicated to tackling air pollution.
Global Action Plan Senior Partner Chris Large said "The public are increasingly concerned about air pollution, and the founder members of the Business Clean Air Taskforce (BCAT) are responding by saying, ‘We will help to make the air in your workplaces, homes and communities healthier to breathe.’”
Professor Stephen Holgate, Medical Research Council Clinical Professor at the University of Southampton and the UK’s first Clean Air Champion, is an advisor on BCAT initiatives. He said: “This coalition that combines the capabilities of business, government and the third sector is exciting and has great potential to make a real difference to the air we all breathe.”
If your business wants to get involved with BCAT, please email Charlotte West, Strategic Account Director at [email protected].
Transform Our World | Supporting #iwill Week

Transform Our World is a new hub full of free, practical resources for teachers. It empowers young people to tackle the root causes of the climate breakdown and biodiversity loss.
This month the hub will be supporting #iwillweek from 18-24th November, which is a campaign to celebrate the power of youth social action. Check out their 5-day challenge and template social media posts. From offering opportunities, working together and celebrating young people, there are lots of ways to get involved.
Global Action Plan has created Transform Our World as part of our pledge to the #iwill campaign, a movement of over 1,000 organisations from across the UK that aims to make participation in social action - such as volunteering, campaigning, supporting peers or fundraising - the norm for young people aged 10-20.
The #iwill Fund supports Transform Our World.
