Popping out for a grab-and-go lunch is the height of convenience, but Global Action Plan’s Youth Panel decided that this convenience should not come at the cost of the planet.

So, at the start of February, they launched Long Live the Lunchbox. A campaign connecting conscious consumers and like-minded business to combat the excessive, single-use plastic packaging which so often goes along with buying lunch out.

The campaign features some of the progressive cafes and restaurants who have signed up to the Long Live the Lunchbox campaign and will happily accept customer’s reusable containers instead of using their own take-away tubs. Is your local café proudly displaying their pink sticker yet? The campaign also highlights the experiences of the Youth Panel themselves, with Instagram stories showing open and honest behind-the-scenes aspects of running a successful campaign.

Now, half-way through their campaign, the Youth Panel have engaged nearly 100 businesses, connected with individuals and organisations across the UK and beyond and most impressively started a movement that has seen them demonstrate what’s good for us is good for the planet.

Over the next two weeks they will also announce a collaboration with food-waste-saving app Too Good To Go – so now you can tackle both packaging waste and food waste by bringing your lunchbox container to certain stores in London.
