How to make your partnership community environmental project a success
Evergreen Scotland was a two year partnership community environmental project involving Global Action Plan, Hanover (Scotland) Housing Association and BSkyB (Sky). The project successfully reduced carbon emissions from housing schemes in Edinburgh, Renfrewshire, Lanarkshire, Stirling, West Lothian and Fife by improving efficiency, saving money and creating a healthier environment and lifestyle for the residents. It was funded by The Big Lottery Fund and BSkyB. The overall aim of the project was to encourage older people to work together to tackle 21st century environmental issues in ways that strengthen their community and improve health and wellbeing. The intended outputs focused on: improved health and wellbeing of older people; people and the local community; improved opportunities for positive intergenerational contact through volunteering and positive outcomes for volunteers.
Hindsight is a wonderful thing. But it’s also highly frustrating and can be costly. We are proud of the achievements of the Evergreen Scotland project. Many elements worked brilliantly first time, however, as with all projects, we learned a lot along the way. And so, with the support of the Big Lottery, we want to share with you our top ten tips for making your project a success.
