It's a fast paced world, and we're constantly identifying new ways of tackling new problems. But it's essential that those solutions are grounded in fact and research to help us make sure we're tackling the right problems, and implementing the right solutions. To help the whole sector move at speed, we want to share as much of our own research as we can.

Good Life Schools 2024/25

(27/04/26)

Consumerism – our ‘buy, buy, buy’ culture – is recklessly promoted as the route to economic success and personal happiness – with children and the environment as collateral damage. Despite this, consumerism remains relatively unquestioned in society.

Global Action Plan’s Good Life Schools programme was designed as an antidote to this culture, working collaboratively with young people, schools and communities across England and Wales to explore what a “good life” truly means to them, in a complex world full of consumer influences.

In its first year of delivery, Good Life Schools engaged over 16,000 young people and trained 181 teachers to deliver and embed the programme within their schools. Young people came away from the project equipped with the knowledge, confidence and motivation to take action.

This report reflects not only the tangible impact made in the 2024/25 academic year, but also the stories and values of young people empowered to stand up to consumerism and make a difference in their own community.
