Global Action Plan to give evidence to Environmental Audit Committee
In a first for the organisation, Global Action Plan’s Director of Clean Air, Larissa Lockwood, will give evidence to the Environmental Audit Committee (EAC) on Wednesday 5 July at 15:15.
The EAC, led by The Rt Hon Philip Dunne MP, launched an inquiry into outdoor and indoor air quality targets this May. Larissa will join a panel of three experts, following oral evidence from Professor Sir Chris Whitty, England’s Chief Medical Officer. The panel will likely focus on indoor air pollution issues, including the current evidence base and measures to improve indoor air quality.
Larissa said “It’s an honour to be called by the Environmental Audit Committee to provide evidence on the important and topical subject of air quality targets. Global Action Plan has been campaigning for clean air for a number of years, working with a range of partners in the healthcare sector, schools and local authorities to drive progress. Achieving clean air will make our communities healthier and wealthier, and can have a significant impact on social inequality. It is in the interests of current and future governments to focus on this critical area of public health.”
