Dirt is Good Project schools programme to close
After three years of empowering the next generation of changemakers across the globe, the Dirt is Good Project schools programme will come to a close on 31 July 2024.
Since its inception in 2021, the programme has reached 47,000 children and 2,600 teachers in Chile, Thailand and the UK. A further 315,000 young people have participated in Dirt Is Good activities and events across the world.
Funded by Unilever, Global Action Plan designed and delivered the programme’s unique pedagogical approach that placed young people at its centre. Working directly with three in-country delivery partners, the programme has been proven to empower young people to devise solutions and take positive social action on the issues that matter to them.
The Dirt Is Good Project has proven the importance of trusting young people to lead their own learning and action. We have shown that youth social action thrives when young people are motivated not by prizes or reward, but by their care for people and planet. This project is just one of the ways Global Action Plan is working to unleash that deep-seated motivation and support youth-led social action.

In 2023, the project won two awards: the Gold medal for Educational Excellence at the Global Good Awards in 2023 and Corporate Partnership of the Year (medium) at the 2023 UK Third Sector Awards, in recognition of its commitment to making a positive and sustainable difference in the world.
