Barts Health NHS Trust has partnered with the City of London Corporation, the London boroughs of Waltham Forest, Newham and Tower Hamlets, Global Action Plan and the Greater London Authority on a 3 year Cleaner Air East London project. This project has engaged with people in Barts Health hospitals and the local community, to encourage steps to reduce exposure to poor air quality and to produce less air pollution.

The initiative was a huge success, reaching 100,000 with its AirText messages, directly engaging 6,000 service users with Cleaner Air Packs, and has been cited as a best practice example in the recent Royal College of Physicians report on air quality and its impact on health.

The City of London Corporation is hosting a briefing session on Tuesday 21 June from 3.00-5.00pm to raise awareness of the outcomes from the Barts Health NHS Trust Cleaner Air East London project, with policy makers and Directors of Public Health.

Refreshments will be served from 3.00pm with presentations starting at 3.30pm.
Speakers will include Professor Stephen Holgate, Chair of the Royal College of Physicians Working Party on Air Pollution; Dr Andrew Cross, Public Health Registrar, Greater London Authority; Fiona Daly, Associate Director of Sustainability and Patient Transport, Barts Health NHS Trust.

There will follow a panel discussion with an opportunity for audience questions.
The event will finish by 4:30pm with an opportunity to network until 5:00pm

If you or a colleague wish to attend this session, please email [email protected] no later than Friday 10 June, as this is an invitation only event.

We hope that you are able to join us on 21 June.
