Collaboration and Public Health at Scale

Executive Summary

Air pollution is a critical issue for the health sector. Each year in the
UK over 40,000 people die due to poor air quality. More than 9,500 of
those premature deaths occur in London. These deaths are caused by
long-term exposure to airborne pollution with local particulate matter
attributing between 6.3-8.3% towards total premature mortality in London
boroughs alone. For Barts Health NHS Trust this means between 142,500
and 200,000 members of its community are negatively impacted.
