Sian Buckley
Community Engagement Lead
Motivating young people to take action against consumerism whilst promoting well-being
Sian joined the Education team at Global Action Plan in 2024, leading the Good Life Schools programme across South Yorkshire and the Midlands. She works with secondary schools, local councils and community groups across Leicester and Sheffield to implement the Good Life Schools programme. Sian supports students to design and implement a Good Life Charter in their schools and to form positive and meaningful partnerships in their communities.
Sian is a former secondary school teacher, whose practice focused on inclusive and accessible education, and specialising in English which she taught for nearly ten years. Prior to her career in education, Sian worked for a literature charity and festival, leading successful marketing campaigns across the West Midlands, as well as freelancing in illustration. She volunteers as a mentor at a charity for young people facing mental health issues, and as a grant writer for a storytelling charity with a focus on social justice, wellbeing and communities.
Passionate about digital equity, Sian has earned certifications in UX design and coding, prioritising accessible and inclusive content in all resource and communication design.
Sian loves to spend her free time adventuring with her children, cooking, sewing, drawing and reading.

I love being part of a team who values sustainability and social justice. I’m so proud that my work allows me to be instrumental in empowering young people to realise that they can use their voices for good, making a difference to our shared community and beyond.
