Greenprint interns respond to riots
Our Greenprint 2020 interns, from the left: Anthony, Dirsha, Nas and Nathaniel.
Greenprint interns speak to Ed Miliband, Channel 4 news and BBC World Service about the need to reach out and provide opportunities for young people today.
What happened
Greenprint 2020 interns attended a Labour briefing following the riots, during which Nas, 17 from Tulse Hill put it to Ed Miliband that people turn to crime due to the lack of role models, opportunities and proper education. A media frenzy ensued as they were viewed as an authentic voice of young people.
When is the talking going to stop and the action going to take place? Nas Diirye, 17, Tulse Hill.

Why intern?
Nas, Dirsha and Nathanial joned Global Action Plan through a scheme funded by Vinspired and the Department for Education to develop their communication and work skills. Nas, who plans to attend university in September, realises the danger involved in drugs and crime and is turning his life around for his family and the people he loves in his community, hoping they will follow his route out of crime and in to work.
How we support UK youth
We support young people by offering internships, BTEC training and opportunities to get involved or lead carbon reduction projects in their local community. We've worked with some inspiring young volunteers like Adam Yasir, who helped Croydon College save energy and make significant financial savings through our Greenprint 2020 project.
