Working in the community in East London
Global Action Plan is working in partnership with Tower Hamlets Homes on a community-based programme of environmental activities.
Through the partnership we’re aiming to help residents identify issues they would like to tackle and improvements they would like to make in their communities.
The support we’re giving to Tower Hamlets Homes will help to improve the service it offers to its residents in terms of local environmental issues.
Residents and staff are encouraged to take positive actions to enhance the local environment and their community.
Some of the key areas we’re working on together include:
- Green spaces
- Communal areas
- Waste management
- Energy and water efficiency
- Estate services, e.g.cleanliness, maintenance, horticulture
Through consultation with residents we will create opportunities for them to identify priorities and communicate their needs to Tower Hamlets Homes.
This will ensure the improvements that are made are those that are the most beneficial, relevant and pressing.
Supporting the community
To achieve the goals of this project we will be developing community action plans for each of the communities we are working with.
These plans will be created following input from Tower Hamlets Homes’ residents and staff, and will focus on the priorities of the communities. The plans will identify what needs to be done, how it will be achieved, and who will be involved.
Running alongside this we will work within the communities with Tower Hamlets Homes’ staff on fun, resident-led activities.
We look forward to seeing the partnership develop through working closely with the community in Tower Hamlets.
