TV production company goes green

Diana Hunter at Outline productions

Diana Hunter inspires Outline's employees to go green.

Outline Productions, a busy TV production company based in North London, wanted to get their staff involved and dramatically reduce their impact on the environment.

They commissioned Global Action Plan to evaluate their business's environmental performance and mentor them to reduce their carbon footprint.

We carried out an environmental audit and recommended actions in energy, water, procurement, travel and legislation.

Read our top actions in each category.

As a result, Outline ran recycling, water, and energy saving initiatives to radically slash their carbon emissions.

The green goddess

Outline has a resident green goddess who through humour and positive suggestions promotes best eco-practice around the office. She reminds everyone to be green and rewards good behavior.

We inform and update staff on our CO2 savings from all our practices, and at the moment we've saved the equivalent of 90 trees and 9,300kg of CO2!  Diana Hunter, Head of Production at Outline Productions.

Savings

The amount of recycled office waste has increased by 1.287 tonnes, saving the carbon equivalent of making 4,618 cups of tea.

Gas use has decreased by 40%, saving nearly £500 and the carbon equivalent of 27 return flights from London to Amsterdam.

Outline monitors pre-production, production and post production methods for their environmental impact. They have also hired in LED studio lighting, recycled sets (as much as possible!), issued all staff with cloth bags and signed up for a green energy tariff, effectively making their energy use carbon neutral.
