The Godiva Sisters

Want to know how to help others save on their water and other bills? Just ask community groups like the Godiva Sisters in Coventry?

Grassroots Savings

Global Action Plan met up with the Godiva Sisters, a group of women from different ethnic and cultural communities in Coventry who get together and celebrate Coventry's rich multiculatural history.

Pru Porretta, Coventry’s present-day Lady Godiva, helped to launch the Tap into Savings project in Coventry and was keen to do more by starting her own EcoTeam.

EcoTeams

Ecoteams are groups of friends, families or neighbours who meet once a month for five months and learn how they can save over £100 on household bills and reduce their water consumption by 15%.

In Coventry, Global Action Plan ran EcoTeams with different groups, from the Asian Blind Association to Coventry Soroptimists, as well as Neighbourhood Watch groups, parent and toddler groups, and over-50s.

Over 1,000 homes have been visited through Tap into Savings in Coventry, and over over 130 people have been involved in EcoTeams.

What is Tap into Savings?

Tap into Savings fits free water saving devices in people's toilets, taps and showers. In Coventry, the project is run in partnership with Waterwise, Coventry City Council, Severn Trent Water, Whitefriars Housing Group and the Environment Agency.
