Knowsley Housing Trust & EcoTeams win Golden Projects competition
Knowsley Housing Trust (KHT) is one of 12 winners of HACT’s Golden Projects competition after a nationwide search to find the best ‘grass roots’ housing and neighbourhood projects.
Golden projects
Housing action charity, HACT, invited housing providers and community groups to submit bids for the money to help turn their ideas into reality.
KHT are using their prize to set up EcoTeams, an initiative that brings people together to make smarter, greener choices that reduce their environmental impact and household bills.
Our idea to develop Eco Teams with Global Action Plan has obviously stood out for HACT. We can’t wait to get this Golden Project off the ground. Louise Harris, Head of Social Responsibility at KHT.
Savings
The idea to develop Eco Teams originated from a home energy audit conducted across KHT’s 13,000 homes, which achieved predicted annual savings of over £600 in some instances from advice alone.
Tenants will be supported through monthly meetings with tips and advice on how to reduce their energy use and food waste.
For over a decade, EcoTeams has helped people across the UK to come together in their local community to make a difference and our years of experience have shown us time and time again that getting people together is the most powerful way to achieve positive changes. Trewin Restorick, CEO of Global Action Plan.
