Hanover Housing Association thanks Sky volunteers
The James Grieve apple tree gets planted at the Dunfermline Sky offices
Hanover Scotland Housing Association (HSHA) donated a James Grieve apple tree to thank Sky volunteers for their contribution to the EverGreen project.
Working in the community
- The EverGreen project has been involved with over 600 residents at 26 sheltered housing developments in central Scotland.
- Over 360 Sky staff took part in volunteering days completing tasks such as building a greenhouse from recycled plastic bottles and making raised vegetable beds for more accessible gardening.
- 60 sheltered housing residents said they had improved relationships and found new connections and friendships with other people in their community.
- 5 local primary schools are now in contact with HSHA developments, enabling opportunities for exchange of knowledge.
The EverGreen Project has been ambitious and very innovative and has helped residents to improve their quality of life by increasing their participation in the community. We would like to thank Sky for their support and all the staff that volunteered with the project for their hard work and enthusiasm. Helen Murdoch, Chief Executive of HSHA.
About EverGreen
Global Action Plan worked in the community in Scotland with our charity partner Sky on the EverGreen project.
Our aim is to support the residents of Hanover (Scotland) Housing Association by working together to reduce their impact on the environment, whilst improving community relationships and reducing isolation.
Supported by the National Lottery as well as volunteers from Sky, EverGreen targeted areas such as waste, recycling, food, energy use and transport. We helped residents use their years of experience to turn their housing developments into beacons of sustainable development.
