A green light from the Community Challenge Awards.

Climate Squad has won £5,000 to teach eco-driving techniques.

Our Climate Squad initiative, funded by V and Bank of America, gives training and low carbon volunteering opportunities to 16 – 25 year olds. We were chosen to win this award thanks to ‘originality’, ‘impact on the community’ and ‘carbon saving potential.

Where the money will go

We’ll use the prize money to help learner and newly qualified drivers with fuel saving tips and techniques. These will reduce their fuel use and emissions by 16% throughout their driving lives.

The training will be delivered through an effective peer-to-peer approach using our interactive Eco-Driving Simulator and Climate Squad volunteers.

Pumping It Up

Many of the young people who volunteer with us are already familiar with the importance of driving efficiently. They regularly hold ‘Pump It Up’ events, approaching drivers and offering to pump up their car tyres. This alone can save between 5 – 8% of emissions per journey.
