Green Apple Award for Tap into Savings project
Tap into Savings project has helped Raven Housing Trust residents save water, money and energy.
The project won a gold 'Green Apple' award for environmental best practice, which was presented at the House of Commons on 15 November, 2010.
Tap into Savings
The Tap into Savings project was launched in February to help residents in Redhill and Merstham. It not only helped people save money, but also helped people on low budgets find ways to make their gas, water and electricity go further.
The Project has assisted over 700 households by installing energy reducing kits that have made significant savings.
Over 5,000 homes were engaged as part of the project and three local primary schools had water saving education sessions and benefited from water and energy saving kits.
EcoTeams
Initially twenty-three households also took part in EcoTeams, where friends and neighbours grouped together to find fun and easy ways to save water, energy, money and reduce waste. Since then another two teams have been launched, taking the total number of households up to 44.

Success
The success of the project now means that it will be rolled out across England by Waterwise, which will involve more than 10,000 individuals.
As well as Global Action Plan, partners and funders include Raven Housing Trust, Waterwise, Sutton and East Surrey Water, The Environment Agency, Reigate & Banstead Borough Council and Defra’s Greener Living Fund.
