Employee volunteering in schools
Student Environmental Champions in Sustiente, Italy taking their first energy audit
Following an international rollout of their Environmental Champions programme, E.ON AG wanted to expand the impact that their corporate volunteers could have in communities.
We are delighted to have been shortlisted in the 2011 Business Charity Awards for Best Overseas Project.
Reaching Schools
We created a programme that gave E.ON volunteers in Hungary, Spain and Italy the opportunity to train students in their local schools to become Environmental Champions.
E.ON volunteers developed relationships with local schools and talked to small groups of students about climate change, showing them the energy efficiency measures they can take to make a positive difference. Students are empowered to communicate their success to the rest of the school and their local community, and inspire their friends and family to take action.
The results so far
To date, the programme has trained 40 E.ON volunteers to work in 30 local schools with 676 student environmental champions.
The programme raises environmental awareness in schools and helps them save money and carbon. It's also building great relationships between employees, schools and the community.
