Global Action Plan's work with E.ON
Global Action Plan really is global! We have recently implemented our workplace behaviour change programme across E.ON offices in 5 different countries. The project has influenced over 3,000 employees in Hungary, Italy, Germany, America, and the UK.
To ensure the programme was appropriate for local cultures, and to run training in the local language and produce locally relevant resources, Global Action Plan UK worked with our delivery partners in each of these countries.
Staff engagement
E.ON wanted to run an environmental programme that engaged their staff. They identified this as the missing link in their environmental strategy which covered operational efforts and customers but overlooked employees.
Unified approach
By taking the decision to work across countries E.ON could provide a unified framework and resources that were flexible enough to enable local staff to deliver local improvements. Good, clear communications between the Project Managers and shared workspaces to share resources and communication ideas ensured that best practice was pooled and made the programme more cost effective.
Technology
Technology was adopted to assist with the success of the programme. WebEx conferences were set up to allow regular communications across sites without the need for unnecessary travel. This also has the additional benefit of cutting down on staff travel time out of the office and expensive travel costs.
International network
By running the programme we have established an international network of team leaders throughout E.ON who are able to run employee teams to enthuse and motivate their colleagues to improve their environmental behaviour.
As a result we are now working internationally with E.ON to run another programme where employee volunteers run similar communications led programmes in local schools.
No limits
As well as the carbon and financial savings, this programme illustrated that there are virtually no limits to the reach of the environmental projects we can run.
