Engaging employees with Aviva

On the training day in York

As part of Climate Week 2011, we worked with Aviva's Environmental Champions in their York and Norwich offices.

Fresh, green ideas

Aviva, on a quest to be a more sustainable organisation, wanted to revive and motivate their Environmental Champions, increase their knowledge on changing behaviour, to get practical communication tools, and to infuse fresh ideas for environmental campaigns on issues their Environmental Champions felt passionate about.

We held two workshops; one in York and one in Norwich with more than 30 existing Environmental Champions and volunteers.

We brought the Energy Bike to each workshop to show how effective tangible environmental messages can be. We covered:

  • Quashing the myths around climate change
  • Celebrating what has already been achieved
  • Breaking habits, changing behaviour
  • Ideas for future campaigns
  • Persuasive communications

Employee leadership

The Environmental Champions left the workshop with a renewed enthusiasm and a list of actions to implement in their local offices.

The interactive style of the training helped create a team who will be more effective working together. Dean Garner, Senior Solution Architect, Aviva.

Aviva’s Corporate Responsibility department found that they have a team of committed and enthusiastic individuals ready to support the company’s environmental initiatives. They gained a better understanding the issues their employees feel passionate about and how to communicate their campaigns more effectively.
