Business travel - identifying key barriers and best practice

We will launch our sustainable travel report on 9 May that will help your company travel less, and travel differently.

Businesses are seeking cheaper and less carbon-intensive alternatives to business travel. However, efforts can be piecemeal and lacking in strategy. Technological solutions such video conferencing do not always translate into widespread use.

Identifying the challenges

In a project sponsored by Telefónica O2 UK, Global Action Plan is researching the question of how companies can encourage their employees to travel less, and travel differently.

We have spoken to over 130 public and private sector organisations to find out how they are dealing with pressures to reduce business and employee travel linked to soaring fuel costs and threats to their bottom line.

Celebrating best practice

We will be holding an event on 9 May at the House of Commons to celebrate the launch of the research.

We'll hear from Chair of the Environmnetal Audit Committee Joan Walley MP, Global Action Plan CEO Trewin Restorick, Ann Pickering, HR Director at Telefónica UK; and from a range of businesses that have already achieved success in sustainable travel planning.

If you are interested in attending the House of Commons event, email us at events@globalactionplan.org.uk.
