Global Action Plan is immensely proud of our Greenprint 2020 volunteers. These young people have shown incredible commitment and demonstrated true leadership and positivity in helping create our sustainable future.

Big voice award - Alison Smith  

Alison Smith
Alison has spent the past year developing a regional action plan for volunteer engagement on a local level. Using local connections she gathered a group of volunteers to form the ’Environmental Task Force’ (ETF) who have run a number of events to engage local youth in environmental issues.


Big idea award - Alaric Ross-Wagenknecht

Alaric Ross-Wagenknecht

Alaric came up with the idea of creating a staff community garden and recruited a team of colleagues who take it in turns to manage the allotment together. Alaric was also involved in both COP15 and COP16, welcoming Ed Miliband home from Copenhagen at the DECC offices, contributing to project ideas, presenting to Bank of America Merrill Lynch, and blogging online.


Big hand award - Fahan Ibrahim Hashi

Fahan Ibrahim Hashi

After attending Greenprint 2020’s community leadership training, Fahan went on to run a schools project encouraging pupils to cut down their waste and to reuse and recycling more. She created a dedicated school Action Team and led them in carrying out waste audits to determine theire carbon savings. A the earlier stages of the project, they’d already helped the school reduce its waste by 17%.

Big kick award - Adam Yasir

Adam Yasir

Adam recruited a team of eight students and developed ‘The Green Hope Campaign’ at Croydon College, which went on to get a further 13,000 students involved in the project. The Green Hope Campaign raised awareness and guided students towards making changes to save energy and act on climate change, which enabled the team to cut energy use by 10%.

Big heart award - Sian Ryan

Sian Ryan

Sian has shown not only dedicated passion and enthusiasm for helping communities cut their carbon footprint, but has shown fantastic commitment throughout her time with Greenprint 2020 – always there to provide support and a lending hand to the steering group.


Big time award - Neeral Shah

Neeral Shah

Neeral has been our longest running intern, volunteering for three days a week for 11 months between February 2010 and January 2011. Neeral has played a vital role in supporting our community leaders with their projects. Neeral has also facilitated many of our training events, and also delivered the Greener Businesses part of the project's training programme.
