Anthony, Social Responsibility Support Coordinator for Knowsley Housing Trust, is shortlisted in the Green Social Housing Champion of the Year category.

Green at home

Anthony developed a staff led group of EcoTeams focused on reducing carbon emissions across rubbish, energy, water and travel. Anthony's EcoTeams had six meetings looking at household's energy consumption and subsequent improvement.

Save energy, save money

Anthony also developed the ‘Save Energy, Save Money’ scheme, which has been hugely successful, engaging with more than 1,000 customers and resulting in predicted annual CO2 emissions savings of 224 tonnes.

The scheme has really taken off and it is exciting to see a growing enthusiasm for all things green. It is an honour to be nominated in the awards and we hope our experiences will inspire others to get creative with eco initiatives. Anthony Jarvis.

‘Save Money, Save Energy’ offers free home energy audits and advice on different energy tariffs and switching tariffs and providers. KHT has so far carried out 260 home energy audits.

Education Energy Bike

Anthony has promoted his energy efficiency message in a variety of ways, including writing articles in KHT publications, giving talks to local schools, attending community events and using an energy bike like ours to demonstrate how much energy is needed to power a radio or LED light.

He has also worked with three school classes who have recorded their household improvements and is planning additional EcoTeam groups with sheltered schemes and local enterprises covering digital inclusion, grow your own, money matters and creative cooking topics.

The winners will be announced on 21st October, 2011.
