How can SmartWorks help your business?

Eligibility
Any SME (small to medium sized business), not-for-profit organisation or charity that employs fewer than 250 staff and is based in London is eligible for free or subsidised support.

Costs
This is a free service. However a small charge may be incurred for extended support. Any costs are subject to prior agreement with the business and will be dependant on both size and turnover of the business.

Environmental Standards
There will be a charge for BS8555 training (training to implement a certified environmental management system) and this service is also open to businesses of any size.

How does it work?
1. Once we have received your enquiry we will phone or email you to discuss the needs of your organisation and the level and type of support required.

2. A SmartWorks business advisor will either provide support over the phone or provide an on-site visit to benchmark your organisation's performance and provide a report with recommendations for change.

3. We will follow up with your organisation after the visit to find out how you are progressing. If appropriate, we may revisit you six months later to reassess and measure progress.

Support offered may range from 2 to 10 hours and may include:

  • Environmental review of the business
  • Development plan for ways to reduce energy, water and other resource use
  • Advice on green purchasing
  • Advice on travel or carbon offsetting

In addition to the above, SmartWorks can provide the following (for which fees may be incurred):

  • Additional research or advice
  • Training programmes for staff or management
  • Help in implementing an environmental management system
